I've been giving Zee sketch books for many years now and it's fun to browse through them every so often. The pictures on each page are varied and include a good mix of subjects. Some, like the one above, are illustrated journal entries, with animals announcing the date and activity. These are good for chronicling the day's events and see which ones stand out in his week.

Boo and Zee occasionally hold "Super Scribbly Sundays", when they just sketch the afternoon away. These entries totally review their immediate interests. A reoccurring theme I notice is the "secret base". This one involves a base hidden away in a mountain or underwater while a battle scene ensues on the outside. While the people are mostly stick figures, the weapons are much more detailed.

Many pages are covered with elaborate battle scenes. This particular one had drillers tunneling through underneathe and helicopters getting blasted out of the air.

Some pages are of the Leonard Da Vinci variety -- sketches of inventions with lots of accompanying notes. These usually have a simple drawing with lots of writing explaining every last detail about it.

Recently, Zee has been fascinated with Rube Goldberg devices and sketched a few designs of his own. These are quite involved and always a joy to read. Here you can see plans for a gas candle, a sprinkler hat for a hot day, and a thief deterrant. It would be cool if he one day attempted to build one of them!
