Think! Challenge -- Marshmallow Madness

Marshmallow madness is in the air. This is our second time using them for science this month. The Think! Challenge this week was to build an arch using only marshmallow, tongs and toothpicks. I had neglected to see the part about only using tongs, so Zee did use his hands.

Nonetheless, it proved to be quite a challenge keeping the arch upright!

Zee first made support structures on either side, making sure they were wider than the rest of the arch. As it grew taller, the structure leaned back and needed extra support.

The photo of the completed "Jet Puff Bridge" was taken seconds before it fell, hence, the shaky, unfocused effect. Oh well, it was a good effort. And of course, there's a bonus to building a marshmallow arch -- you get to eat them afterwards. At least all was not lost.

Come back this week for more science experiments, and see what other marshmallow madness we have going on.

In the meantime, be sure to check out our other Think! Challenges here.
